DEI Resource Committee
Big West Rotaract’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee seeks to develop a Rotaract-specific toolkit to assist clubs and districts build more inclusive environments where every person feels included, valued, and heard. As Rotary and Rotaract clubs seek to improve their commitments to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Big West Rotaract recognized the need for a resource toolkit designed specifically for Rotaract clubs.
The BWR DEI Committee will be composed of Rotaractors, BWR Directors and a Rotarian subject matter expert that will work together to develop DEI resources for direct implementation. As we work with Rotaract clubs to better understand their culture and climate, we will develop a strategic toolkit based on opportunities for growth.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Meaning, Challenges, and Opportunities for Action
How do we create and maintain a culture of inclusion? This session breaks down what ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’ means, explores barriers to DEI within Rotary and Rotaract, and will provide recommended action steps to implement within your clubs and districts. Facilitated by Dr. "Bowtie" Todd Jenkins and Sydney Schilling.
Diversity in Your Clubs and Being an Ally
In the session, "Diversity in Your Clubs and Being an Ally," you'll explore your privileges (because everyone has one in some form or another) and how you can use them to be an ally for those who need your voice and partnership. Presented at the virtual Post-Rotary International Convention 2020 and facilitated by Janel Breen and Alia Ali.

These Ground Rules and Land Acknowledgment documents have been applied within various open forums, discussions, breakout sessions and conferences/events that BWR has hosted. While our team created the templates, they were informed by external resources, best practices & perspectives cited in each document.
